Chocolate Avocado Mousse


– serves 4 –

– gluten free, dairy free, refined sugar free –

7 medjool dates (soaked for a couple of hours and pits removed)

3 avocados (peeled and pitted)

1/4 cup smooth almond butter

5 tbsp raw cacao powder

splash of pure vanilla extract

pinch of pink Himalayan salt

  • Add all the above ingredients into a blender or food processor and blend until smooth.
  • Let set in refrigerator for at least 30 minutes
  • Serve and top with fresh berries
  • Enjoy!

With this recipe you never have to feel guilty about eating chocolate mousse again. Here’s why:

Medjool Dates:  Though they are high in calories (three contains 200 calories, they are also high in vitamins B5 and B6 (support healthy hair, skin, liver function, mood regulation and red blood cell development), potassium and copper (support cardiovascular health) and fiber.  Using them in recipes offers a healthy alternative to refined sugar.

Avocado: With its high fat content, avocados make it easier to absorb fat soluble vitamins such as A, K, D and E.

Cacao: High high high in antioxidants which help fight cancer and heart disease.  Many cacao powders have been over processed and remove the antioxidant properties, so try to buy raw cacao powder which is minimally processed.
